Purple, Black, and Stripes (Yet Again)

Wow. You'd almost think I like wearing purple, black and stripes or something. Fairly simple outfit today, as I'm feeling under the weather due to a bad cold, and had to do shopping for work-so I did what I do best, cute and comfy.
Alien necklace-Savers
Black and purple striped sweater dress-Arc
Black leggings-Forever 21
Buckled combat boots-Ross
Here's a close-up of the necklace. I love it because it exemplifies both my geekiness and my gothiness!

Sorry about the terrible lighting-I'm still working out the kinks in my photo-taking process. I like this dress because it's really comfy and warm (a must on a cold, rainy day like today), but the bright pattern is still plenty eye-catching. Throw it on over some leggings and you're (well, I'm) good to go. The alien necklace was my little nod to noncomformity in an outfit that otherwise borders on the dangerously mainstream (for me, at least)-something subtle but fun, and it even matches my color scheme! Do any of you have "casual day" outfits for those days when you just don't feel like corsets, frills, and laces, no matter how you love them?

Purple and Sparkles and Stripes (Again!), Oh My!

More purple and black; I know you were all on tenterhooks waiting to see what I'd come up with next. Here's a twofer, since circumstances with school stuff prevented me from posting yesterday!
Wednesday's outfit is shown here:
Black t-shirt-Forever 21
Lilac corset-Canal Boat Trading
Black lace skirt-Goodwill
Purple sparkly tights-Wal-Mart
Black Mary Jane heels-Hot Topic
And here's today's installment-the purple is more subtle, but I still had fun with the scheme!

Black raschel lace top-Arc
Purple tank-Forever 21
Black swishy ruffled skirt-Goodwill
Purple, blue, and green striped socks-Wal-Mart
Black zipper Mary Janes-Arc
The outfit for today was definitely more laid-back/less dressy than the one from yesterday-I seem to be alternating this week! You can't see it in the picture so much, but the tights in the first outfit are sparkly, so they added a fun touch to an otherwise sober-ish outfit. I have so much purple in my wardrobe in so many variations, from casual basics like the tank I wore today to super-dressy pieces like the corset I wore yesterday, that I could probably put together a month's worth of outfits just from the purple items I own. You might notice the black hair in the second pic-it's quite a change from what I'm used to, but a lot of people said they liked it today, so it's growing on me! I actually got deep burgundy dye, and was expecting...well, deep burgundy hair, i.e. dark red with purplish undertones, so you can imagine my surprise when I dried my hair after dyeing and it was really, really black! I'll see how it looks after a couple more washes, but next time I might go with the regular burgundy rather than deep burgundy. :)

She Wore Purple Velvet...Stripes

Ignore my lame song pun title-heaven forbid I ever actually get something that is made of blue velvet! For day 2 of black and purple week, I donned one of my favorite corsets-it has black and purple, stripes, velvet, and ruffles. What more could a girl ask for? It does tend a little toward the costume-y if I wear it with a lot of other really Victorian stuff, though-and some days I feel very steampunk-y, and that's fine, but today I wanted a little more modern vibe.

I tried to "dress it down" a little by pairing it with casual items-well, casual for me, at least! I'm sure most people would call this dress at least somewhat dressy, but a black jersey dress is my equivalent of jeans-which probably explains why I have three of them. The purple tights were definitely a lucky find at TJ Maxx for $3-I think I'm getting close to having a solid-color pair in every color! It definitely helps with my ever-so-slightly anal-retentive need for color coordination, not to mention that they're fun, funky, and easy to wear. Love!
