Corset-y Long-Skirt-Y Goodness, Two-For-One Edition

Sorry for my absence, I've been a busy bee lately! I didn't really have a specific theme in mind for this week, but by pure coincidence (and probably because the fall weather is finally showing its face here in Wellington and it's been chilly) my outfits yesterday and today both had a long skirt/corset in them, so I'm taking it and running:
Kimono-sleeved top-Paper Bag Princess
Red overbust corset-Punk69
Pleated chiffon skirt-Arc
Black boots-The Warehoue

Black arrow necklace-Arc
Black shrug-Paper Bag Princess
White tank top-Wal-Mart
Striped arm warmers-Artsmyths
Black corset-Punk69
Fishnet and satin skirt-Paper Bag Princess
Black boots-Ross
I've found that these make really good rainy-weather outfits-they look elegant and put together while allowing me to hide a multitude of tights and thermal leggings under them! I still can't get over the fact that May means I need to start dressing warmer-this reversed seasons thing is going to take me a while to get used to, that's for sure. And to think, when I go home (2 months and 5 days, time has flown!) I'll go from winter to dead summer...too strange. Good thing my vast wardrobe can accommodate all seasons with careful layering. :) Also, it's my Un-Birthday-6 months until the big 2-1!

Stripes Ahoy!

I may be slightly addicted to striped things. Striped tights, pinstripe corsets, striped skirts...I think it's all Tim Burton's fault. If he didn't constantly put great looking stripey costumes into his films, I wouldn't want to wear stripes all the time. But he does, and I do, and the result is outfits like this:
Fake "pearl" necklace-Arc
Demon necklace-Repeat Boutique
Black lace shrug-Savers
Buckled pinstriped corset-The Crypt
Purple-and-black-stripe handwarmers-Claire's
Purple-and-black striped skirt-Buffalo Exchange
Black leggings-Wal-mart
Black boots-Buffalo Exchange
I think when I first saw this skirt at Buffalo Exchange (in the Halloween section, natch), my reaction was something like OMGMINEMINEMINEMINEMINE!!! Fortunately, most sane people don't want a bright purple and black striped skirt, so I was able to snatch it up and abscond happily to the checkouts with it-I think it only cost $6 or $8, and it makes me so happy. Stripes! What else can I say? I'm a walking Goth cliche when it comes to 'em. Speaking of stripes, I will very soon have the mother of all Sew Very Goth posts coming up, so keep your eyes peeled. I just have to do about 18,000 feet of gathering first. What's your favorite cliche Goth style?

Red and Black Stripes and Boots!

For the last day of my Red and Black outfits, I wanted to go all out-and it just so happened to coincide with VictorianKitty's monthly theme day on boots, so I took the opportunity to look as Gothy as possible, stompy boots and all!
Bat necklace: Twin Dragon Asian Gifts
Black and red stripe shirt-Wal-Mart
Black lace skirt-Savers
Black and red striped handwarmers-Claire's
Black and red tights-Wal-mart
Chunky black boots-DAV thrift
Here's a close-up of the necklace-I just thought it was so lovely, and I had to get it! Bats? Yes please! :)
And, for the theme, a close-up of the boots-you can see where they're a bit scuffed, because I love them so much that I'm starting to wear them out. I probably have seven or eight pairs of boots, but these are my favorites-chunky enough to add height, but comfortable enough to wear all day when I have to do a lot of walking. And, of course, the perfect height to wear with cool skirts and funky tights! What more could a little Goth girl's heart desire?
